Sometimes it is the road most travelled leads to the greatest experience, so we offer two self-guided tours. These itineraries have helped us see much of our country too, so can comfortably claim you will see the very best of Aotearoa New Zealand.

The tours take the pressure off your planning by including accommodation, ferry transfers if applicable, and suggestions for day trips and scenic excursions – you can feel confident your road trip will tick your tourist boxes, whether you do just one tour or combine them for an epic 29 day Once in a Lifetime adventure.

The 12-night Lower North Island tour starts from our base in Wellington and loops up the western side of the island and back down the east. You will enjoy majestic mountains, long and windy country roads and some city stays in key tourist spots – highlights include The Forgotten Highway and the ‘republic’ of Whangamomona, Mt Taranaki, the Waitomo Caves and Hawke’s Bay. You will visit the cities of Whanganui, New Plymouth, Rotorua, Gisborne and Napier, and the smaller towns of National Park and Hicks Bay – allowing for a true ‘kiwi’ experience. Meet the locals, share a coffee or beer, and swap stories with the other riders you’ll meet on the road.

The 18-night South Island tour begins with a night in Wellington before crossing the Cook Strait on the Interislander – an exceptionally scenic cruise to the South Island via the Marlborough Sounds. After arriving in Picton, the tour takes you west via Nelson to the rugged West Coast where you will have time to visit the glaciers before heading across Haast Pass to Wanaka and Queenstown. You will have a rest day in Queenstown to ensure you get the full experience of the majestic mountains that surround the town. After Queenstown you will ride further south to enjoy a cruise of Milford Sound before a night in Invercargill, our southernmost city. It is then up to Dunedin via the impressive Catlins. The final nights of the tour have you zig-zagging across the island on the spectacular Arthur’s and Lewis Passes via Mt Cook, Christchurch, Lake Brunner and Hanmer Springs. The price does not include motorcycle hire and starts from *$3670 for the Lower North Island, and *$6050 for the South Island. The price includes three – four star accommodation, with the South Island tour also including the Interislander Ferry crossing of the Cook Strait and a Milford Sound cruise. Please note the price is for one rider, one bike, and sole occupancy of a double or twin room. Please get in touch if you require a price for a pillion – it isn’t much more to bring a passenger along for the ride.
